CANDLE CARE
What is the burn time on our candles?
Our candles are designed for long-lasting enjoyment:
4 oz Tins – 20+ hours
4 oz Amber Jars- 20+ hours
9 oz Amber Jars– 75+ hours of burn time
12.5 oz Ceramic Jars– 75+ hours
14.5 oz Amber Jar + Wooden Wicks– 90+ hours
Wax Melts - Each tree gets 15+ hours
Since soy wax has a “memory,” the first burn is the most important. To prevent tunneling, allow the melted wax to reach the edges of the jar during the initial burn. This process typically takes 2 to 4 hours, ensuring an even burn for the life of your candle.
Our focus on ingredients for our candles?
Our top priority has always been creating cleaner, healthier candles. We understand the risks of breathing in harsh chemicals from traditional candles that use metal wicks, artificial fragrances, and non-soy waxes. That’s why we set out to make a better alternative—using only the highest-quality ingredients.
Our candles are made with 100% soy wax, sourced from American-grown soybeans. They’re vegan, clean-burning, and eco-friendly, ensuring a toxin-free experience in your space. To scent our candles, we use only clean scents and pure essential oils (Young Living family over here), so you can enjoy a beautifully scented home without compromising air quality.
Why do you have to trim your wick?
You generally shouldn’t need to trim the cotton wick(s), as our wicks are self-trimming and designed to maintain the ideal length. However, it's recommended to keep wicks at approximately 1/4 inch.
For our 14.5 oz Wooden Wicks, we recommend brushing off the charred portion from the previous burn before relighting for the best performance.
Lighting Wood Wicks-
Lighting a wood wick is a little different from a traditional cotton wick, but with the right technique, you’ll get a beautiful, even burn. Follow these steps for the best results:
Hold the flame to the wick for about 15 seconds. Wood wicks take a little longer to catch fire, so be patient and let the flame fully ignite the wick.
Tilt the candle slightly while lighting. This helps the flame spread evenly across the wick.
Ensure the wick is trimmed to about 1/4 inch before lighting. If the wick is too long, it may not burn properly.
If the flame extinguishes quickly, try again. Sometimes, wood wicks need a second attempt to fully catch.
Remove any charred wood before relighting. This helps maintain a clean and steady burn.
What are some candle safety tips?
Always keep a burning candle within sight—never leave it unattended. Extinguish your candles when leaving a room or before going to sleep. Avoid placing lit candles near pets, children, clothing, books, or anything flammable. Make sure to set them on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
Our custom wooden lids serve as both a lid and a candle coaster, providing a safe burning surface. Keep candles away from drafts, ceiling fans, and air currents to ensure a steady flame.
Our wicks are designed to extinguish before the flame reaches the bottom of the jar, preventing overheating of the glass. This happens at end of the candle’s life.
What do I do with my jar and lid after burning?
Don’t throw them away! Glass jars are useful year-round—whether they’re pickle jars, jam jars, mason jars, or Natural Habitat jars. They’re everywhere, abundant, and endlessly versatile. If you’re unsure how to reuse them (they make great storage for cotton balls and q-tips!), reach out to us. We gladly repurpose both jars and wooden lids. During Farmers Market season, return a jar and lid combo for a discount on your next purchase as our thank-you for recycling! No need to clean them before returning—extra points for you if you do! ;)
